What an ISP-IP VPS actually means
ISP-IP describes the network identity attached to a server, not a magic class of machine. Here is what the label changes—and what it does not.
An ISP-IP VPS is still a server. It has assigned CPU, memory, storage, an operating system, and administrative access just like a conventional VPS. The difference is the public address it uses to reach the internet. That address is announced by an internet service provider rather than a conventional datacenter network.
That distinction sounds small, but websites often use the network that owns an IP address as one of many context signals. An address announced by a cloud or hosting company can be easy to identify as datacenter traffic. An address associated with a consumer-facing ISP may be classified differently. “ISP IP” describes that network identity. It does not describe the amount of compute behind it, and it does not promise that every website will treat it in a particular way.
ISP IP does not mean residential
These terms are regularly blended together, and they should not be.
A residential connection is normally a household internet service. Blossom’s ISP line uses Verizon FiOS Business addresses in Washington, DC. They are business ISP addresses, not residential addresses. Calling them residential would be both imprecise and easy to disprove through public network records.
The useful description is narrower: each ISP box receives its own Verizon Business IPv4 address, and that address is not drawn from an ordinary datacenter range. The address is dedicated to the box while the service is active. It is not a rotating proxy pool and it is not shared behind carrier-grade NAT.
What you are actually buying
There are two separate parts to the product:
- The machine: vCPU, memory, NVMe and HDD storage, operating system, and full root or administrator access.
- The network identity: a dedicated Verizon Business IPv4 address on a gigabit line in Washington, DC.
The current entry configuration has 2 vCPU, 2 GB of memory, 20 GB of NVMe storage, and 40 GB of HDD storage. Larger tiers increase both compute and storage while retaining the same basic network identity. The entry tier currently starts at $19 per month. Current inventory and the full ladder belong on the plans page, because those can change more often than this explanation.
What the label does not guarantee
An ISP classification is not a universal access pass. Every destination makes its own decision using its own data. That decision can include account history, browser behavior, location, cookies, payment details, automation patterns, and the reputation of the individual address. Network type is one input, not the whole verdict.
The label also says nothing by itself about latency or throughput. A server can have an ISP-owned address and still sit on a slow line. It can have excellent network identity and insufficient memory. Conversely, a datacenter VPS can deliver much more compute per dollar and be the better choice when the destination does not care about network classification.
For Blossom’s Washington line, the measured single-flow result at the host is approximately 940 Mbps in each direction, with sub-four-millisecond latency to Ashburn in the recorded test. We describe the line as gigabit. We do not describe it as 2 Gbps because a single flow cannot use both links in the bonded connection, and observed peak-period aggregate results have also been closer to one gigabit.
Why the price differs from a datacenter VPS
With an ordinary VPS node, compute, memory, and storage are the obvious constraints. An ISP line adds another scarce resource: routed ISP addresses. Adding a smaller virtual machine does not make its public address cheaper or create another address slot.
That is why comparing only vCPU and memory can be misleading. The datacenter line starts lower and is built for compute value on a shared 10 Gbps node uplink. The ISP line costs more because each box consumes a dedicated ISP address and a slot on a smaller network. The two products solve different problems.
A practical way to choose
Choose an ISP-IP VPS when the network owner and address classification are a real requirement, and when you also need a complete server rather than a proxy endpoint. It is useful when you need to install your own software, keep a stable environment, and administer the operating system while connecting from an ISP-owned address.
Choose a datacenter VPS when raw compute, storage, or network capacity matters more than ISP identity. It is usually the more economical answer for hosting applications, development environments, general remote desktops, and other workloads that do not depend on the address being associated with an ISP.
The cleanest buying question is not “Which label sounds better?” It is: Does this workload require an ISP-owned public address, or does it require the most server for the budget? Once that is clear, the rest of the comparison becomes much easier.
