NYC/NJ VPS hosting with a dedicated IPv4
What a NYC/NJ datacenter VPS includes, what its shared 10 Gbps node uplink means, and how to choose a size.
Looking for an NYC or New Jersey VPS usually means looking for a practical East Coast server: low-latency regional connectivity, a public address dedicated to the machine, and enough CPU, memory, and NVMe space for the application. Those are separate choices. A good VPS page should make the distinction clear instead of collapsing everything into one oversized bandwidth number.
Blossom's NYC/NJ datacenter VPS line is a KVM virtual server product. Each active service has its own assigned resources, full root or administrator access, NVMe storage, and one dedicated datacenter IPv4 address. It is designed for ordinary infrastructure work where compute value and fast datacenter connectivity matter more than having an ISP-owned address.

What dedicated IPv4 means here
Every listed datacenter VPS receives one dedicated public IPv4 address while the service is active. The address belongs to that server rather than being a shared NAT exit used by many unrelated customers. That matters for basic administration: you can connect services to a stable public endpoint, configure firewall rules, run a remote desktop or application, and know which address belongs to your machine.
It does not mean the address is an ISP or residential address. The NYC/NJ line uses dedicated datacenter IPv4 space announced by a hosting network. That is normal for a general-purpose VPS. Some destinations use address ownership as one of many signals, so customers who specifically need an ISP-owned address should compare the ISP line instead of assuming any dedicated IP has the same network identity.
Dedicated IPv4 also does not mean dedicated bandwidth. Address assignment and network capacity are different resources. The useful promise is that the address is assigned to your service, not that one address reserves an entire physical uplink.
The 10 Gbps number: shared node uplink
The NYC/NJ VPS node has a shared 10 Gbps uplink. This is an advantage for workloads that benefit from high burst capacity, but the word shared belongs with the claim. It is not a dedicated or guaranteed 10 Gbps connection for every individual VPS.
On a quiet node, one VPS may be able to move substantial traffic. When several customers use the same physical connection heavily at the same time, they divide the capacity. Actual results also depend on the other endpoint, the route between both networks, congestion, the application protocol, and whether a transfer uses one connection or many.
That is why a single distant download should not be treated as a complete benchmark. A slow mirror can make a fast VPS look slow; a nearby multi-connection speed test can show available local capacity without proving the same result to every destination. The honest description is simple: it is a 10 Gbps shared node uplink, with normal internet-path variability beyond the node.
Who this VPS line fits
The NYC/NJ datacenter line is the natural default when the job is infrastructure rather than a special kind of network identity. Common fits include:
- Application hosting and web services
- Development, build, and test environments
- Linux services and self-managed tools
- Remote desktops on tiers that support the selected operating system
- Data movement, APIs, and general-purpose compute
The value proposition is straightforward: the customer gets a real, administrable KVM server with NVMe storage and a dedicated public IP without paying for a scarcer ISP address when that is not needed.
It is not the right product to describe as a universal answer to third-party fraud checks, protected checkout, account decisions, or any other result controlled by someone else's platform. A destination can consider account history, browser behavior, user location, cookies, payment data, and its own private rules in addition to IP classification. A server can be technically excellent without changing those external decisions.
How to choose the right size
Start with memory. Memory holds the operating system, active services, caches, and work in progress. A server that runs out of memory can swap, kill processes, or refuse to start a workload even when its CPU is barely busy. Leave room above the application's observed minimum for updates and routine peaks.
Then choose CPU based on parallel work. More vCPU helps when the workload can run tasks at once, such as builds, multiple services, or concurrent users. It is not an automatic speed multiplier for a single-threaded task. Storage comes next: account for the operating system, application, logs, temporary files, package caches, and reasonable growth, not just the project's current files.
Finally, estimate transfer separately from port speed. Transfer is the total amount moved during a billing period; port speed is the instantaneous rate at which traffic can move. A service may have modest total use with occasional fast bursts, or steady low-rate traffic that adds up over a month. The plan page states the current included allowance, and the Priority Bandwidth option changes both the allowance and the VPS network cap where available.
NYC/NJ versus an ISP-IP VPS
The clean question is not whether one line is universally better. It is whether the workload needs an address announced by a consumer-facing ISP. If it does, the Washington or Seattle ISP offerings are purpose-built for that network requirement. If it does not, a NYC/NJ datacenter VPS is usually the simpler and more economical choice.
Both product families are complete servers, not proxy endpoints. Both provide administrative access and a dedicated IPv4 address. The difference is the network identity attached to that address and the underlying design priorities. Choosing based on that distinction keeps expectations realistic and makes the final resource decision much easier.
